About the project
Quiosque Europeu
Quiosque Europeu brings together every morning the front pages of newspapers from Portugal, Europe and the Portuguese-speaking world. In one place, verified and explained, so you can see in a few minutes what defines the day in Lisbon, Madrid, Berlin or São Paulo.
Why it exists
The front page is a newspaper's most visible editorial decision: what it chooses to put ahead of everything else. Comparing those choices across countries shows what Europe has in common, what is ours alone and how the same story can be told in very different ways.
Quiosque Europeu was created to make that comparison simple, daily and reliable, with Portugal as the starting point.
What you will find
- Today's front pages from around 450 newspapersGeneral, business, sports, weekly and regional titles from more than 40 countries, from Portugal to Turkey, plus Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
- The date is always confirmedA front page is only shown as today's when the edition date is confirmed. When a paper does not publish that day, we say so instead of showing an old front page.
- Headlines read and translatedThe headline and main highlights of each front page, in the original and in English, with links to the front page and the newspaper's website.
- The morning in 60 secondsA summary of the day in three parts, Portugal, Europe and the world, also available as a one-minute audio briefing.
- Europe's top 10 headlinesThe stories carrying the most weight on the European agenda, chosen from all verified front pages.
- European radar and Portugal vs. EuropeThe themes repeated across front pages in several countries, how each country frames them and what sets the Portuguese press apart.
- What the sports papers sayA Bola, Record and O Jogo side by side with Marca, AS, L'Équipe and Gazzetta, with each paper's angle on the same matches.

How it works
Every morning at 07:00 Lisbon time, the front pages are collected, read and verified. The summary and comparisons are written only from what is on the front pages and checked before publication. At 08:00 the day's edition goes live on the site and by email, and stays the same for 24 hours.
The details are on the methodology page.
Respect for newspapers
Front pages belong to their newspapers. Quiosque Europeu shows them as a reference, always credits the source and links to the original and to each newspaper's website for anyone who wants to read more.
